White Cliff Manor, was built by Louis Schaaf, the founder of St. Mary’s Flouring Mill Co., in the late 1800’s on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. The Mill was operated by the Family from 1856 until the late 1930’s. The Schaaf home features 10 rooms with high ceilings, beautiful hardwood floors, six fireplaces, pocket doors and outstanding woodwork. Unchanged by time the restored home offers an opportunity to experience the lifestyle of a prosperous area Miller in the late nineteenth century. White Cliff Manor was constructed on this site to enjoy the views and breezes of the river valley. The estate rests on a 10 acre hill behind the ancient river bluffs and allows one the feeling of privacy and space not available at many Bed and Breakfasts. The lovely front porch and upstairs balcony offer the observer views of the front lawn and lands beyond. Hugh Oak, Maple, Ash and Walnut Trees shade the grounds.
